We are taking our first trip to WDW this summer with two 16 yr. olds and a 9 yr old. My 9 yr old loves hotels and swimming pools and I am looking for a hotel that will be appealing to the teenagers as well. Any recommendations? What are your favs? Thanks

You must be so excited about your first trip to Walt Disney World.

When traveling with teenagers and for families that enjoy swimming, I would highly recommend the Beach Club. The Stormalong Bay pool offers fun, recreation for kids of all ages. There are waterfalls, sand bars and a deep lazy river. The huge, Albatross Shipwreck slide takes you through a tunnel, twists and turns and through a waterfall before landing you in the pool.  The marina and nearby Boardwalk resort offer even more recreational opportunities.

This is a great location for easy access to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Both of these parks have attractions that many teenagers consider the highlight of their vacation. Depending on how much freedom you feel comfortable giving the teens, they can walk to Epcot to enjoy such headliner attractions as Soarin’, Mission Space and Test Track. They could boat (or walk) over to the Hollywood Studios to enjoy more thrilling experiences such as Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Whether you explore these parks together or separately, the proximity to these parks is a major convenience.

For a moderate resort, I would suggest Coronado Springs. At the Dig Site, there is a large pool with a very cool, twisting Jaguar slide. Watch out! The jaguar spits water as you slide by. There is a sand volleyball court. The kids will like grabbing food and beverages at the Siesta pool bar. Renting bikes and watercraft adds to the fun recreation. After all the fun, you’ll find restful hammocks along the sandy shoreline.

If you are traveling with sports fans, the All Star Sports in the value resort category would be a fun option.  There are 2 pools, however the value hotels do not offer pool slides. The Game Point arcade is a fun air-conditioned diversion.

Let me know if I can help narrow your options any further. Happy planning!
