Hi, we are taking our first trip to Disney World Dec. 7th. We are staying for 5 days. At that time our little girls will be 4 and 20 months old. I am excited but really afraid of getting overwhelmed. Any tips or suggestions?

    Hi Stephanie,

I know that planning your first vacation to Walt Disney World can be overwhelming, and the Disney Parks Moms Panel is here to help!  For a first step, I suggest that you order the free Walt Disney World vacation planning DVD.  By watching this, you can start to get an idea of the theme parks that your family will want to visit and attractions that might appeal to your family.

Since you are staying for five days, you could decide to visit one of each of the four theme parks each day, with a fifth and final day to revisit your favorite theme park.  You could also decide to take that fifth day as a "resort day," and simply plan to relax at the resort.  Many families with young children find a resort day to be a relaxing and rejuvenating break in the middle of the vacation.  Also, you might consider if instead of visiting all four theme parks, would your family be most happy just to visit a couple of the theme parks.  With girls the age of yours, I think that Magic Kingdom is a must do, and you could do multiple days there.  You could then look at the other theme parks and decide which would appeal the most to your family.

A few quick notes for when you are at the Disney theme parks.  I suggest that you arrive early, as the crowds are the lowest at the theme parks early in the morning.  If your girls still take naps, do try to head back to your resort for nap time, or at least build in some downtime at the theme park.  Also take advantage of the Baby Care Centers at each theme park, which offer a place to change and feed your little ones in a relaxed environment.

I would love to help you plan more, Stephanie; however, I am limited in the amount of space that I have to answer.  Please do write back if you have further questions!
