We are taking our first trip to Disney from Sept. 5-9. We heard that the parks with extra magic hours that day are busier all day long, and that park hopping to another park the rest of the day is a good idea. Is this still a good idea in September?

How exciting you are visiting Walt Disney World for the first time this week, Carolyn!  Extra Magic Hours is one of my favorite benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort! My family loves to visit the park offering Morning Extra Magic Hours and have found that we are able to experience many of our favorite attractions with little to no wait, during this magical hour. With that being said, we usually avoid the park offering Evening Extra Magic Hours since we have personally found the park to be more crowded during this time. If you will be staying off property and unable to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, then I would definitely recommend avoiding the park offering Extra Magic Hours that day. However, if you will be a guest staying at a Walt Disney World Resort and have the Magic Your Way Park Hopper Ticket,  then I do agree that park hopping to a second park can be a great strategy if you want to simply visit the first park for Morning Extra Magic Hours. My family will sometimes "park hop" with this specific park touring strategy in mind, but we have also stayed in the park for the entire day as well. The month of September is traditionally one of the least crowded times of the year so I don't personally believe you have to "park hop" if staying in the same park works better for your family.  If it were me and my plans were flexible, I would start the day at the park offering Morning Extra Magic Hours and then "park hop" if that park becomes overly  crowded. Whether you decide to visit a park offering Extra Magic Hours or not, I highly recommend arriving at park opening in order to experience as many attractions as possible, when the park is traditionally the least crowded. I hope this information helps! Best wishes for a magical trip, Carolyn!
