We'll be taking our first trip to Disney in April 2018. Have two boys ages 8 and 12, is the little mermaid room at AoA really girly or would it be ok for boys too. Not sure how they'd feel about it and trying to make the trip a surpise. Thanks!

    Hello Nicole!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Congratulations on your first Disney vacation! You must be so excited! Your boys are going to have an amazing time!

I have recently stayed at the Little Mermaid room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and although the room décor is inspired by our favorite mermaid, I didn’t feel like it was a girly room. The colors are beautiful, with a lot of green and some blue. The carpet looks like the bottom of the ocean, and the bathroom is blue – this is where you will find a large picture of Ariel. Check out the pictures for the room and see what you think. What I love about this Disney Resort hotel is that your boys will have the opportunity to explore the other areas of the hotel, inspired by The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars – if your boys are Cars fans they will love this section and if your budget permits, book a Cars Family Suite. If you are still concerned, then I suggest staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, which is located right across from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. They are separated by Hourglass Lake, and all you have to do to visit is just cross a bridge.

Nicole, don’t forget to download the My Disney Experience mobile app! You will be able to plan, modify and share every single aspect of your vacation. Make FastPass+ selections, dining reservations, see your Disney PhotoPass photos, and much more! I also recommend purchasing Memory Maker for unlimited downloads of all digital content captured during your visit.

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I hope this helps you while planning and that you have a magical visit!
