We are taking our first family Disney trip this September. My kids ages will be 6, 4, 2 & 2. Do you think we would use the park hopper option? (no water parks) I have heard mixed things about it given our kids ages. Thank

Hi Katie, this is a great question and can be debated either way, but I'll give you my take on it. My family has always done the park hopper option and I'll tell you why. We love having the option to switch parks during any given day on our vacation if our kids get bored with one park or we need a change of scenery, per se. We have had a time or two, where the kids need a break to avoid a meltdown and simply changing parks and atmospheres does the trick and depending on the time of day, the transportation to another park provides the opportunity for some much needed down-time and our little one has fallen asleep.

Another argument for getting the park hopper option is to have the flexibility to change parks if you have a dining reservation in a park that you don't plan to spend the whole day in. For example, if you think your younger kids won't get a lot out of Epcot, but you would really like to eat at one of Epcot's amazing restaurants, you can enter the park to dine and maybe do a few attractions, then switch parks to one that your kids will get more out of for the rest of the day!

We usually travel to Walt Disney World for more than four days (the number of theme parks), so on our last couple of days, we will often split the day between two parks that we want to revisit for some favorite attractions and the park hopper option helps us do this.

On the flip side of the coin, you do have to consider your children's interests and budget. Obviously, the park hopper option is an added expense. Since this is your family's first trip, you may want to dedicate an entire day to each of the parks so that you can experience all that it has to offer!

I hope my answer has made it easier to make a decision.
