Taking a family vacation to WDW from Dec 28 to Jan 3. What is the best way to go? Should we get the all inclusive package or just the tickets and hotel. There are a total of 7 to start, later 8 (my oldest son will be joining us). Kids are 3, 4, & 5.

Hi Daidra!  This is a tough call since this will also be a very busy time in the parks.  Many guests like to have their vacations paid for in advance so when they arrive they are not worried about money and how much they will need for dining and souvenirs and other recreation activities. By purchasing a vacation package that includes a dining plan you can make this happen quite easily.

However, if you include a dining plan then you will want to make sure you can get some advanced dining reservations that appeal to your family. It is past the 180 day window where guests can make reservations and being a holiday things might already be booked up. You can do some trials for reservations by going to www.disneyworld.com and clicking Dining. If most of the table service places are already booked then you can either decide on another kind of dining plan or just head there and hit many of the Quick Service spots and get a few table service reservations when you can.

If the package contains recreation elements then make sure you are going to be able to use everything and that you won't be locked out of those as well. Some of the packages include many things that the guests will not ever use but in essence you are still paying for them. Go over the details carefully to make sure it is a package that fits your needs for the family.  In the past we found that we could not really eat three full meals a day and snacks when visiting Disney. We like to sit down to one meal for lunch or dinner where we can catch up and visit and rest but the other two are more on the go type meals.  Each family has to look at their needs and wishes and then decide what is best for you. No matter what direction you take you will undoubtedly have a great Disney vacation!
