I will be taking a family vacation from Jan 13-22. I am taking my daughter who is turning 4 the middle of Dec (yes her first trip). Are there any special events going on that we can plan for? Is the park still decorated for the holidays?

    Hi Michelle:

January is a great time to visit Walt Disney World.  With kids back in school, the Parks tend to get slightly less crowded.  I can't think of a particular special event.  The Walt Disney World Marathon will be over by then, but you may see some folks who came for the race linger several more days.  To help make your visit special, stop by City Hall at the Magic Kingdom, or at guest relations at other parks, and pick up a first visit or birthday button. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to wish your daughter a Happy Birthday or greet her with a kind gesture to make the visit more memorable. Don't forget to arrange a special birthday celebration meal, like at Chef Mickey's, get her a make-over at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or arrange a special gift through Disney Floral & Gifts.

Although always subject to change, Christmas and Holiday decorations tend to stay up for about a week or so after the Christmas holiday. A few days into the new year, the decorations are taken down quickly but in stages. For example, you may see the holiday tree removed from the Magic Kingdom, but the holiday tree stay up at your Resort for a day or two longer (or vice versa). So during your visit, you probably won't see many, if any, Holiday decorations. However, I'm unable to provide any set schedule for decoration removal.

    Enjoy your vacation.
