We are taking the Disney cruise 12/22-12/26. we are going to have two free days one before and one after what are the best things to hit up at WDW? Best hotels around the holidays that aren't super expensive?

    Hi Karen,

A Disney cruise over Christmas with Walt Disney World days before and after sounds amazing!

I suggest that you first consider if you want to visit the theme parks while at Walt Disney World. There is much to do at Walt Disney World without heading into the theme parks, such as visiting the newly re-imagined entertainment, shopping and dining area Disney Springs, or simply visiting all of the resort hotels to see their beautiful winter holiday decorations. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa typically hosts a life-sized gingerbread house in their lobby! If you do decide to go to the theme parks, since your time is limited, I suggest that you order the Walt Disney World planning DVD and watch it to get a feel for which theme parks you might want to visit and which attractions you will want to experience. Then, be sure to make Disney FastPass+ selections to be sure that you can experience these attractions with shorter wait times.

As to hotel to stay at, I have a thought for you. Since you indicate that cost is a factor in your decision, I suggest a Walt Disney World Value Resort for the two days before your cruise. These resorts offer all of the perks of being a Walt Disney World resort guest at a value price. Then, when you come back from your cruise, since you are only staying for one night, if you can, splurge and stay at a Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort. Specifically, Disney's Wilderness Lodge is decorated amazingly at the winter holidays and has a warm, cozy feel.

Please let us know if you have any further questions, Karen!
