Hello. We are taking our 2 daughters to WDW in April 2013. At the time of our visit they will be 2.5 and just 5. We are trying to decide if we should get park tickets for 4 or 5 days. Is it possible to get 5 days out of our girls? Thanks!

    Hi Amanda,

With an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World, I'm guessing your 2 daughters are brimming with excitement and will soon be, "too excited to sleep!"

I have traveled many times with a toddler and preschooler, and can tell you with confidence 5 days is certainly doable. Disney offers great packages with incentives to stay "and play" longer. My best advice is take it slow, and create a list of your must-dos at each Disney Park.

I often recommend the website touringplans.com to tailor your itinerary. The crowd predicting site offers historical attendance and will guide you in "best parks" to visit on each day, which ultimately cuts down on wait times for popular attractions. The calendars have become an essential tool for our family, especially with small children in tow. We will visit the "best park" at rope drop in the early morning and head back to our resort for a swim/nap during the heat of the day. We find the rest time to be a critical aspect in keeping the little ones from potential meltdowns! Head back out for dinner and amazing evening entertainment, like Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. Wishes, located in Magic Kingdom, is a must-do for our family, as Mom and Dad revel in the nostalgia of hearing Jiminy Cricket, and the little ones light up with excitement with fireworks set to their favorite Disney songs.

With your children's ages, I'd also recommend two separate strollers. The walking can be tiresome for little princess legs and renting a park stroller confines you to the parks themselves. If possible, I recommend two strollers, as double strollers can be cumbersome to break down on the Walt Disney World buses and boats.

Amanda, I'd love to offer you more tips but I am limited in space! Please visit me again as your trip approaches. I'm your gal for tips with little ones!

    Have a magical vacation!
