Hi I am taking my daughter to Disneyland in September and just am wondering whats the best way to find lots of characters? Also what are some of the best afford restaurants to go to with a kid who is 5? Thanks

    Hi, Rachel!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks for your great question. If you’re in search of a certain character, stop by Guest Relations. The Cast Members usually know the character schedule for the park each day and can help point you in the right direction. Enjoying a character meal is another good way to get one-on-one time with several Disney characters. There is generally not a set list of characters that can be found at each restaurant, and it makes for some fun surprises. The only character you’re guaranteed to see at each meal is the one whose name is featured in the title, like the Surf's Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, the Plaza Inn Breakfast with Minnie and Friends, and the character meals served at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel.

At the character meals at Storyteller’s Café at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, you’ll often find Chip and Dale and other woodland characters like Brother Bear and Winnie the Pooh. On our most recent visit to Goofy’s Kitchen, we met a diverse group of characters like Pluto, Pocahontas, Rafiki, Goofy and Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother. At Ariel’s Grotto, you’re guaranteed to meet Ariel herself, along with a few other princesses that can include Aurora, Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and Jasmine.

I suggest you make an afternoon restaurant reservation if cost is a concern, because the offerings on the table-service lunch menus are generally more affordable than the dinnertime items, but just as delicious. Even quick-service dining locations like Plaza Inn at Disneyland Park and Flo’s V-8 Café at Disney California Adventure Park can provide a festive atmosphere and great food without breaking the bank. I hope this helps, Rachel. Wishing you magic,
