I am taking my daughter to Disney at the beginning of May for her first birthday celebration - I keep hearing from every one that it will be a pain since she is still using diapers and since she won't remember anything - any one have any advice?

    Hi Ashleigh!

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! My advice may be a little biased since I'm a Disney Fanatic. However, it is the ease in which I can travel with infants and toddlers to the Walt Disney World Resort that has turned me into a Disney Fanatic. Will she remember her 1st birthday celebration? Probably not. Will you remember? Definitely.

The Baby Care Centers really are amazing. There is one located in each theme park and they have everything you could need. They have changing tables, private nursing rooms, high chairs, microwave, and more. They also have supplies you can purchase in case you forget something at home. It is a nice break to sit in an air-conditioned facility and grab a drink of water. If your daughter does need a diaper change and you are not near the Baby Care Center, most restrooms have a changing table as well. I'll be honest; sometimes it's easier to take a baby with diapers than a potty-trained child.

Some of my favorite memories are of my babies giggling and pointing during 'it's a small world." They love flying through the air on Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Character interaction is a 'your mileage my vary' scenario in our family. Some babies loved them; some babies didn't. But even the crying pictures still make me smile.

If my baby got antsy, we would just go at her speed. I would recommend going back to the room for naps and try to keep your daughter on a similar schedule that she follows at home. My babies napped in their strollers, but I know some who don't. I also kept plenty of snacks on hand like cheerios or crackers. In desperate times, a lollipop has been known to make an appearance.

I truly enjoyed taking each one of my children as babies to Walt Disney World. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. Happy 1st Birthday to your daughter and have a magical vacation!
