If I have the tag that says my special needs son can stay in his stroller in the parks will he need to get out of it on the bus ??

Hi Jennifer! Thanks so much for your question. I have a special needs son who is crazy about Disney and loves to visit all of the Disney Parks. I completely relate to the hope every parent of a special needs child has of making a Walt Disney World visit seamless and simple for their child. Exactly when a child can remain in a stroller can be a little confusing so let me explain it to you the best I can. If your child is in a stroller and has special needs, you can visit Guest Relations in the Parks and request a Stroller As A Wheelchair tag. It sounds like this is the tag you already have. As you know, this should be attached to strollers or pediatric wheelchairs to help Cast Members, who might not be familiar with the differences between the two (some of them look so much alike) identify that the child has a special need and help him accordingly. Disney specifies that this special accommodation is to help those children who need to remain seated when visiting attractions only. As far as bus transportation goes, children in strollers cannot be safely secured on busses and for that reason, you will be required to fold your stroller and stow it. If, however, you own a pediatric wheelchair with the appropriate transit packages attached, it will be treated as a wheelchair. Safety is, of course, the paramount concern. Take a look at the Walt Disney World website for more information about the many ways Disney is ready to assist Guests with special needs or call 407-939-5277. When you arrive, be sure to ask at Guest Relations for a Disability Access Service Card which allows you to receive return times for attractions based on current wait times. This has been a lifesaver with us and made it possible for our special needs kids to skip long lines that would be impossible for them to deal with. I love it!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Mom's Panel. Have a wonderful day!
