I am surprising my son for his 13th birthday with a trip to Disney World in December. His birthday is January 2nd. I am trying to decide on a package, flight, hotel, and theme park for 4. This will be the first time for all of us. Any suggestions?

Greetings, Shawndece, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You’ve totally come to the right spot for vacation recommendations! I have two kids, but have also traveled with my nieces and nephews for magical trips! If you’ll think about your budget and must-have attractions, that will help you narrow down your choices.

The value resorts are themed, with fun pools and a large food court. Moderate resorts boast plusher amenities and a lower crowd level, while deluxe resorts put you in the middle of the fun with multiple transportation options and dining experiences. Since you’re within 180 days of your check-in, dinner reservations at table service restaurants may be hard to come by, but there are several excellent quick service eateries to choose from, like my favorite Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and D-LUXE Burgers. You can still make FastPass+ reservations (at least three a day) when you hit 60 days prior to check in, so figure out which park you’d like to visit on a day and snag passes to 7 Dwarfs Mine Train, Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest. If you want an all-in-one experience, you can either contact a Travel Agent (mine is Joy at Travelmation) or call (407) 939-1936 to speak with a Cast Member and choose a Magic Your Way package, which can include airfare, hotel, tickets and more.

Next thing you know, you’ll be aboard Disney’s Magical Express, being whisked to Walt Disney World Resort in comfort and style. As you come up with more questions about your vacation, please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
