I am surprising my daughter on her 6th Birthday and flying to Disney!!! What do you all suggest we make sure we hit up? I was thinking about the Parade that starts at 7:00pm but think it may get to late for her. Any suggestions?

Way to make Wisconsin proud, Cindy! Your daughter's gonna love it!

The parades will definitely be a highlight of your trip, and a little planning on the front end will help you hit all the attractions you want and keep people well rested throughout your stay.

The parks are most crowded at midday, so beat 'em - don't join 'em! Take a midday break to rest up at your resort, and return refreshed to the parks come early evening. This will help your daughter be a happier camper when the sun goes down. You'll be able to hit the parade and fireworks. Magic Kingdom has an evening parade on select nights, and Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios all offer some sort of evening fireworks display on select nights.

My boys go down pretty early too at home, but they always adapt to the midday break schedule while we're on vacation.

The other element of hitting all the attractions you want is getting to the parks a little before they open in the morning and then experiencing the most popular attractions first. For example, on a day when you're going to Magic Kingdom and it opens at 9:00 a.m., get there by 8:40 a.m. When the rope drops, go straight through the castle to Fantasyland. You'll be able to ride most of the Fantasyland attractions with little to no wait within the first 90 minutes, including Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan's Flight.

Experiences with the characters will be a highlight of her trip as well. The restaurants can be too. Our favorite way to kill two birds with one stone (without detracting for park time) is by doing character meals. Consider booking one or more of these experiences. Our favorites are at Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and with Donald and friends at Tusker House.

Have no fear in circling back with me if you have questions as you go about planning your trip!
