Hi. We have a surprise visit for our 3 kids planned in Oct. Well be staying at Port Orleans Riverside for 6 nights and got the park hop with waterparks etc. I'm wanting to start planning but feeling overwhelmed. Theres so much. Where should I start?

    Hi Amber,

Breathe and take a deep breath. You can do this and the Disney Parks Moms Panel is here to help.

You have tackled some of the big hurdles. You have the date, the place and the length with tickets. Now you just need to fill in the rest.

Now you want to plan out your vacation and develop a touring plan. I recommend Epcot on your first full day of touring. This park is big and you will need fresh legs. Also, its magic is subtle and not as over the top as Magic Kingdom. Children appreciate it more when you tour this prior to Magic Kingdom. You also will have the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival to enjoy while you are here.

The next day you want to head to Disney's Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. Finally, hit Magic Kingdom. You can hit the water park in the middle of the vacation to take time out of the hustle of the main parks. For a water park, I would pick Blizzard Beach if you have children under 10 as the wave pool is not as wild as Typhoon Lagoon and there are more family rides.

In general, you will want to plan for two days in each Magic Kingdom and Epcot and a day each in Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. You can always add extra time at another park by park hopping between two parks.

After you plan the days you are touring, book your Advance Dining Reservations so you have a place to dine. You will also want to plan your FastPass+ for your trip as well.

While I love Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, you may want to skip it this trip and concentrate on the four main parks and the water parks.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
