Do you have any suggestions for keeping my autistic niece calm in the parks? I’m worried about her during the shows. My autistic niece doesn’t like loud noises. Any suggestions of good places to watch the fireworks?

    Welcome Back Ginger!

Your niece is a very lucky little princess to have an aunt to plan ahead for her.  For some special needs kids, a trip to Disney is their family's first real vacation together so it can be stressful for both the child and the parents.

Here are some things that I'd recommend to help make her trip as stress free and relaxing as possible:

    * If your niece has any comfort items, bring them if possible - bring a back up just in case.
    * If she has head phones or ear plugs to help keep the noise level down, bring them.
    * If she becomes anxious, remember to relax & breathe & remove her from the situation until she has a chance to calm down.
    * If she needs a quiet place to escape all the stimuli in the park, visit a First Aid location. There is one in every park.
    * Make sure you are familiar with any other things that may trigger anxiety for her and try to avoid those attractions (i.e., attractions that are dark, etc). If you have questions about any specific attractions let me know.
    * If you see she has had enough, pack it up & head back to your resort.

If you think the noise from the fireworks will be too much for her, you could think about a location outside the Magic Kingdom.  One of my favorite ways to watch the fireworks is aboard the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage.  This experience offers a fantastic way to see the fireworks without the loud booms from the fireworks. If you don't think she could handle being on a boat for an hour or so, the beach at the Polynesian Resort also offers a great view.

Please keep the questions coming!  Spreading pixie dust makes our day!  Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
