We are staying at the WL in Dec. I saw somewhere that the main pool will be closed when the lifeguards aren't there. Will the hot tubs at the main pool be closed also? It is a bit of a walk to the quiet pool hot tub, we enjoy a relaxing soak after parks.

    Hi Cynthia,

Like you, I've heard about the upcoming changes to the pool operating hours at the various Walt Disney World resort hotels. However, I unfortunately haven't heard about the timing for these changes or the exact pools that will be subject to the change.

It just so happens that I was staying at Disney's Wilderness Lodge last week and they hadn't installed any of the new fences around the Silver Creek Springs pool yet. However, the Hidden Springs pool (the "quiet pool" that's near the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge) was closed for a refurbishment. Maybe they'll install one of the new fences there?

Based on the information I've seen, I'm guessing this new setup will be similar to how the pool is gated at Disney's Grand Californian hotel in the Disneyland Resort. If I recall, you have to use your room key to enter the pool's gates during operating hours. From a safety perspective, I think this is a pretty good idea.

With respect to the hot tubs, I unfortunately haven't heard yet if they'll be subject to the new operating hours. Sorry!!

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Speaking of the Hidden Springs pool, I was walking over that way with my children last week and we decided to take a peek inside of the neighboring Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Being a huge fan of Walt Disney, I was shocked to see that they had two of the railcars from his backyard railroad on display in the lobby.

It literally sent chills down my spine to see such important artifacts so casually on display for everyone to enjoy. That being said, I highly recommend taking 5-10 minutes to peruse the items on display in the lobby of the Villas building. It's like a mini railroad museum!

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
