We are staying at the Ft Wilderness Cabins for the 1st time in May. I was wondering which loop to request. We would like something close to a bus stop and the a pool. Also is it hard to get around w/out a golf cart? Thanks

    Elizabeth:

If you think you'll be spending time at The Meadows Pool, I'd recommend requesting Cabin Loop 2100 or 2200.  Both are the closest to the pool.  However, keep in mind that the cabins at the front of those loops are closer to the bus stop than the cabins in the back.  So, I recommend you making your requests in the order of most importance when you make your reservation, and Disney will know what you're looking for.

As for the electric carts, that's a subjective question.  Yes, they can essentially save you time from having to use the internal buses to get to the pier and the Outpost bus stop and traverse the fort's expansive campus.  However, I wouldn't say that they are necessary if your family enjoys the outdoors and walking.

If you're not visiting on a holiday weekend (in your case, Memorial Day Weekend), I would recommend waiting until you arrive to decide whether or not the rental of a cart is absolutely necessary.  Spend your first day using Disney transportation and walking.  After that, if you think you need it, head to the Outpost and rent one for the remainder of your stay.  At $54 plus tax a day, the carts will make a dent in your budget, so weigh their necessity carefully.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
