Hi! We’re staying at a universal resort this trip, but spending several days at WDW. How much travel time should we plan for?

Hi, Danielle, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Depending on traffic, traveling from Universal Orlando Resort to Walt Disney World Resort should take you between 20 and 30 minutes. Please keep in mind that I-4 traffic can be heavy at times, so I would allow at least an hour if you’re trying to make it on time for a dining reservation or a FastPass+ experience. You’ll also want to allow time to park and take a tram or walk from the parking lot to the Theme Park entrances.

Once you’re on Walt Disney World Resort property, take advantage of complimentary transportation to get you from Park to Park. With bus, boat, monorail and Minnie Van options, you should be able to navigate with ease once you pass under that Magical arch. You can also use the "Directions" feature of your My Disney Experience mobile app to find directions from one place to another.

With efforts underway to improve traffic patterns and ease congestion, you may encounter some roadway construction once you’re on Walt Disney World Resort. Lately my family and I have found it much easier to follow the clearly marked signs to reach our destination. Look for the purple signs to help with your navigation and you shouldn’t have any problems.

Once you leave Walt Disney World Resort, rely on your smartphone’s maps or navigation app for directions back to your hotel.

Enjoy your visit, Danielle! Please let us know if there are any additional questions we can answer for you.
