    Karen from ME Asked

We are staying at the Port Orleans - Riverside resort. It is in the Disney Springs area, so is it considered a Disney Springs hotel? I am confused because I have been reading about differences between the Disney Resort hotels and the Disney Springs hotels.

    Hi Karen,

That can be a confusing distinction, so l'm happy to help clarify for you.

Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, Saratoga Springs and Old Key West are official Walt Disney World resorts, owned and operated by Disney, that are in the Disney Springs area. Guests at these resorts receive all the benefits of being staying in a Walt Disney World resort, including free MagicBands, Extra Magic Hours, Magical Express, complimentary Disney transportation, free parking and more. In addition to bus service to all the theme parks and Disney Springs, guests at these resorts also can travel to Disney Springs by water taxi.

There are also a number of chain hotels in the Disney Springs area that are not officially affiliated with Walt Disney World. Most are on Buena Vista Drive and Hotel Plaza Boulevard. These hotels don't offer the same benefits to guests as the official Walt Disney World resorts. Many are within walking distance of Disney Springs and offer limited shuttle service to the parks.

Thanks, Karen, for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I hope this helps as you make your resort plans. Enjoy!
