We're staying at the Polynesian for 6 nights the end of January. The kids will be 5 and 2 1/2 at the time. Plan on going to downtown to eat at T-Rex one night but need suggestions for the other 5 nights for dinner. What do you recommend?

    Hi Delisa!

While I love talking about Disney's Polynesian Resort (it's my favorite of them all), I also love talking about the food at Walt Disney World!

Considering the age of your children, I could easily recommend restaurants that offer character dining experiences. They're all awesome!

Instead, I'll share five of my family's favorite spots that don't offer character dining experiences:

#1 - 'Ohana. Since you'll be staying at the Polynesian, you should definitely put this one on your list! Not only is the food great, but there are lots of fun activities as well.

#2 - Be Our Guest Restaurant. This is the newest restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. The food is excellent and the atmosphere will blow you away.

#3 - Coral Reef Restaurant. Most guests in Epcot will head toward World Showcase for dinner. Don't sleep on this gem in Future World because your children will love the view into the coral reef where over 4,000 sea creatures live.

#4 - '50's Prime Time Cafe. You and your family will be transported back into the 1950's as you enjoy some of the period's comfort foods. (Remember to keep your elbows off the table!)

#5 - Whispering Canyon Cafe. Even if we're not staying at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, we still mosey on over there for dinner. Come hungry and ask for ketchup. (Trust me!)

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

The only restaurant on property that has a minimum age requirement is Victoria & Albert's. Otherwise, don't be afraid to try any of the restaurants that sound good to you. Walt Disney World is a family destination, so the cast members to a great job of accommodating families with young children.

I hope that helps! If you'd like to hear my thoughts on other restaurants that I didn't mention, please feel free to write back and I'll be happy to give you the scoop!

    Best regards,
    Derek
