We will be staying off-site and I was wondering the best plan of action? We do not desire to go to the waterpark nor universal studios. We will be travelling in June and I have a 9 and a 12 year old.

    Hi Kathy!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

My family and I have stayed offsite many times in the past.  I definitely recommend having your own car or a rental car as that will make traveling throughout Walt Disney World and to and from your hotel much easier.  It is relatively easy to get around Walt Disney World, even for first time visitors.

I also recommend making Advance Dining Reservations.  You do not need to stay on Disney property to do that.  They are critical for any Table Service (full service) restaurants you want to dine in.  ADRs can be made up to 180 days in advance online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.  You can just tie all of the reservations to a telephone number.

I definitely recommend getting to the parks at least 30 minutes before park opening.  That's because you can get a lot done in the early morning hours when a lot of other guests are still sleeping or having breakfast.  The problem is going to be if the parks stay open late, which is likely in June, and if your hotel is far away from Walt Disney World.  That may make going back for an afternoon nap or break difficult.  If that's the case then I would plan on spending some late nights in the parks but not every night.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
