We are staying off property and have tickets for 5 days at the parks. Do we need magic bands or what is the card that is being referred to when using fast passes? If so, how do we get the magic bands and are they free with the tickets? Thanks

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Tamara! Your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is right around the corner!

I’ve stayed off-property with my family many times and had amazing visits!

MagicBands are the most convenient accessory you’ll wear during your adventures at the Walt Disney World Resort. They hold all kinds of information for you, like theme park ticket details, FastPass+ reservations and they serve as your room key when you’re a guest at a Disney Resort hotel.

While only guests of Disney Resort hotels receive complimentary solid color MagicBands, they are available for purchase on the Shop Disney Parks web page. You’ll find lots of fun character bands there!

You can use the numbers found on the back of your theme park tickets and MagicBands to link them to your My Disney Experience account. It's easy! Just follow the step by step instructions on the “link my reservations” web page.

By linking your tickets and bands to your My Disney Experience account, you will be able to make FastPass+ reservations 30 days before your scheduled visit.

Tamara, FastPass+ is a service included with your ticket that holds your place in line for your favorite attractions at all four Disney theme parks. Just log into your My Disney Experience account to get started with your selections!

I hope this information is helpful to you! Don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you need any more suggestions. Helping you plan your magical vacation is our favorite thing to do!
