Staying at a Disney resort soon and have family staying at another Disney resort. Can we spend time at each other’s pools?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Mike!

There are so many reasons to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel! The ability to make your FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance of your check-in date, Extra Magic Hours (and, this fall, extra, Extra Magic Hours), complimentary MagicBands, and wonderful, themed dining, shopping, and recreation experiences. I just got home from a stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, and I’m so ready to go back!

When you plan with friends and family staying at a different Disney Resort hotel, you’ll get to experience double the magic when you dine, shop, and explore at their hotel. I’ve done this, and it’s great! Here’s the thing: while you’re welcome to visit your family at their hotel, the one amenity that isn’t shareable is the pool. Strictly speaking, “pool hopping” is not permitted at Walt Disney World Resort, and Guests may only use the pool at the resort at which they have reservations. This is in part for safety reasons, and it also helps manage crowding at resort pools. I do recommend that you and your family members touch base with a Cast Member at your hotel, just in case policies have changed or they have any suggestions for you. It never hurts to politely ask, and Cast Members often have great suggestions for other recreation or dining experiences at the resort that all of you could share.

Mike, you’ll be at Walt Disney World in just a few weeks, and I know how excited you and your crew are getting. I hope you’re planning to check out Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – I was there a few days ago, and it’s truly breathtaking. In addition, be sure to check out the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and you won’t want to miss the Mickey Pumpkins lining Magic Kingdom Park’s Main Street, U.S.A. If you’re looking for some spook-tacular fun, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is full of all the treats but no tricks, so even little pumpkins can join the fun. Check out the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest news as you count down the days, and please come back and see us if we can help with any last-minute questions. Have a blast!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
