We will be staying at the Cornado Springs Resort in May 2010, We can not decide if we want to fly or drive down, We will have a 4yr old, 2yr old and newborn, what do you think is best and if we fly is there a shuttle service from the Airport to our resort?

    Hi Crystal,

We have traveled to Disney World by both car and airplane a number of times and still go through the "what should we do" debate everytime we book another visit.

You did not mention where you were traveling from, so I am not sure how long of a road trip you would be facing. It takes us about 22 hours from here in the Midwest. Which choice you make depends a great deal on your style of travel. Even at an early age, my boys were fairly good travelers and did well in the car. We have never tried to make the trip in one day though, and always split it up with a stay over along the way. We made this an extension of the trip and tried to have as much fun as possible on the road. Sometimes we might stop and sight-see, sometimes we purchased new movies or games for the drive, and we always made it an adventure that we were on. This helped ease the boredom and add to the excitement of counting down the states along the way to Disney.

Lately the plane has been a much better choice for us as it allows us to get the most amount of time at Disney without effecting extra time needed off of work or school. If you are a family that is limited by time, or does not like to be in the car for long periods of time, I would pick air for sure. However, if you like the adventure of the open road, the drive can be a great deal of fun. I would consider your traveling style and the patience of your kids and then look at the cost factor. Check the cost of your plane tickets against the expected cost of driving. Be sure to figure in gas, food and any hotel stays as well as the wear and tear on your car, then make your choice.

If you choose to fly, Disney offers a free shuttle service from Orlando airport if you are staying at a Disney Resort, called Magical Express. This service can be added to your reservation at no cost by calling 407-934-7639 with your flight number and resort reservation information.

    Good luck deciding!
