We're staying at the Contemporary and want to do early Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom. We'll have our car with us. Better to take our car or take the bus?

Hello William! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My family will often rent a vehicle when visiting Walt Disney World Resort in order to be more prepared and in control of travel arrangements on mornings where the Theme Park we would be visiting was participating in Extra Magic Hours.

As far as traveling from Disney's Contemporary Resort to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park for Extra Magic Hours, I would agree that traveling in your own vehicle is preferable. The trip is one of the longest between a Resort Hotel and Theme Park in all of Walt Disney World Resort property and is best done when comfortable riding in your own vehicle.

However, the walk from the parking lot at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park to the Main Gates is considerable and much shorter from the bus depots using Resort Transportation. Be sure to plan the walk or travel by tram into your considerations when making a decision.

As a benefit of staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, parking at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park is complimentary.

    Have a Magical Visit!
