We are staying at the Contemporary from 2/22-2/24. The Disney Princess 1/2 is the 23rd. Will we be able to use the walkway to the Magic Kingdom that morning? If not, what are our transportation options? Thanks!

Greetings, Kevin! It sounds like you are planning a magical stay at The Most Magical Place on Earth soon! Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of my favorite places in the "World" to stay, and its convenience to Magic Kingdom Park can't be beat. In fact, I'll be there at the same time for Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend. I'd be happy to help make sure you have the best vacation possible.

Thousands of princesses (and princes) will lace up their running shoes for the 5:30 AM start of the Disney Princess Half Marathon on Sunday, February 23, 2020; however, the runners in the back corrals won't cross the starting line until after 7:00 AM. Road closures can affect early Park-goers on this day. Since the race course runs along World Drive, I'd expect the walkway from the Contemporary to Magic Kingdom Park to be closed to pedestrians until approximately 9:00 AM.  Luckily, it's a breeze to hop on the monorail from your resort. The "Highway in the Sky" will make several stops before getting to your destination, so factor in a little extra time to your morning commute.

Enjoy your stay, Kevin! If you're up early enough, you might see me waving at my family as I pass by the resort in the wee hours!

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
