Staying at Boardwalk. Have a car for the first time. If we want to eat at the Poly. how do we park? Do we have to pay? Also can we leave the car and hop the momorail to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours? Love this panel.

    Dolly,

If you drive to the Polynesian, you can just go up to the resort front gate and let them know you have a reservation. They will direct you to where to park your car, and you are set. As a resort guest at the BoardWalk you do not have to pay anywhere at Walt Disney World.

As for leaving your car there, they frown on that. You are just supposed to park there for the few hours around the meal, not for the day. This is largely to avoid having people use these resort lots to avoid paying the parking charge that non-resort guests would pay when visiting Walt Disney World.

So what should you do? If you really are just going to explore around for a few hours, you are probably OK. If, however, you are going to be in the park for the better part of the day, then park in the Magic Kingdom parking area. You don't have to pay, since you are a BoardWalk guest. And when the parking lot trams bring you to the Transportation and Ticket Center, you can just walk over to the Polynesian.

Another bit of info. When it comes to driving to a theme park in your own car, I think it is a nice convenience when visiting the Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. In all three cases the parking is close to the entry to the park. But with the Magic Kingdom it is not so close. In this one case you might consider not driving that one day. Instead you could bus to the Magic Kingdom from the BoardWalk. But then instead of entering the park, take the monorail to the Polynesian. Then you can enjoy your meal, the Magic Kingdom, and end your visit with a convenient bus ride back to the BoardWalk.

I hope this has provided you more information to make a decision? If not, write me back and I can work on giving you a more concrete suggestion.

    Have a magical vacation!
