Staying at BLT and trying to decide to take our car or a bus to HS and AK. Last visit 3 of us took a bus back from AK at approx. 2 pm we waited over 20 minutes and barely made it on. Surprised that it only held about 20 people. Is this typical?

Hi, Susanne! I am so glad you zoomed by with this question so we could chat today. First, I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of your unmagical moment during your last visit. After your morning at the theme parks, I am sure you were ready to rest sooner rather than later! In my experience, early afternoon at the bus depots can be hit or miss. Some days, especially during the summer, guests like to head back to their resort for a little pool time before returning in the evening for late night fun after the temperature cools. Other days, you may find guests staying in the parks all afternoon or hopping to other parks. The only thing I know for sure, no matter what, is that the Disney buses will be busy right after the evening's firework spectaculars have concluded!

While most Disney buses do offer seating for around two dozen guests, there is much more room available for guests to stand for the quick ride over to their resort. I have not ever really counted, but I would say it could easily fit maybe three times as many people! The bus drivers are always safety conscious, keeping an eye on the occupancy while knowing how many more can hop aboard before holding the line at just the right moment. Whenever that line does have to be held, another bus should come along shortly. The wait time for another bus does vary - ten minutes, sometimes 20. Sometimes another pulls up right behind the other one!

If you are worried about waits for buses, feel free to drive your own vehicle. Parking at the parks is complimentary for resort guests! You could also use the Lyft mobile app on your phone to have the cutest Disney transportation pick you up - a Minnie Van! These adorable red-and-white polka dot vehicles are my favorite way to travel while on vacation.

Thanks again for stopping by and please let us know if you have any other questions!
