Staying 23/12-29/12/09 at ASmusic, QSdining, in-laws close by. Debating weather to switch to cabin at campgroundfor all 6(xtra space) Is the $ difference worth it or will we be too busy to take advantage of porch, bbq, kitchen etc thanx

Hi Jean!  I recently took my first Disney trip where I stayed in the Fort Wilderness cabins.  Because of record rains in May we decided to head back there again in October as there is so much to do in that area that we didn't get a chance to enjoy.

There are many pros about staying at a cabin.  They are very QUIET and our family loves the outdoors so it was great to get up in the morning to smell the pine trees and and feel the breezes through the trees.  It brought all our camping memories back to us!  We also loved having the kitchen facilities even though we didn't cook any main meals. Just having the large refrigerator with drinks and snacks available was a huge plus.  The living area was nice to have in case one wanted to nap or head to bed earlier.  There are two tvs with one in the bedroom and the other in the living area that included DVD and VCR.

I recommend to those using the cabins to consider renting a golf cart. It is not a necessity with the internal buses running well enough to get you to the main bus stop to catch all the park transportation but the golf carts are fun and they do cut off a little time getting from place to place.

The biggest negative with the cabins is that there isn't a lot of storage space....very tiny closet and only one small chest of drawers in the bedroom.  We used the pull out bed in the living room and it was adequate but definitely not the most comfortable bed we have used!  One cabin for six will be tight due to the lack of storage space since suitcases will have to be kept out.

I love Fort Wilderness and anxious to head back there but this time we are actually getting two cabins to spread out the family in as we felt a little cramped!
