We are staying at Art of Animation and will be at Magic Kingdom on 5/23/16. What time should we leave the resort to be there in time for opening? Our party has 3 adults and one 3-year-old. We will probably drive and park rather than take the resort bus.

    Hi Erin,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. It sounds like you are planning a great vacation! A stay at Disney's Art of Animation Resort is so much fun, with its whimsical and large animation icons, and a day at Magic Kingdom is always magical!

I would allow yourself at least an hour to get from Disney's Art of Animation Resort to Magic Kingdom, if not a little more. You will need time not only to drive to Magic Kingdom, but once you park you will need to walk or take the tram to the Transportation and Ticket Center, from where you will take a ferry boat or monorail to Magic Kingdom. Then allowing yourself time for bag check and to scan your MagicBands, you will be ready to enter the park at opening. By checking the Walt Disney World theme park hours for your date, I see that Magic Kingdom is scheduled to open at 9:00 a.m. on that day. I suggest that you plan to be in your car leaving Disney's Art of Animation Resort no later than 8:00 a.m. Also, do check the theme park operating hours when you arrive at Walt Disney World as they are subject to change.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Erin! Have a wonderful time planning your magical vacation, and please do let us know if you have any further questions.
