If you were starting out at 5 people then suddenly there is 6 coming and the deluxe Resort you choose could only fit 5 people in the room...do you pay full price for a 2nd room? I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question.

    Hi Lisa!

I'm so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question about room capacity at Walt Disney World Resort hotels. As a teacher for nearly twenty years, I have often said "there is no such thing as a dumb question." If it's something you'd like to know, I'm thrilled to provide you with an answer.

I can certainly see why an additional friend or family member wishes to join you on your upcoming trip. A stay at a deluxe hotel is something no one would want to miss. Unfortunately, adding a sixth person to your reservation will exceed occupancy limits for your room. As a result, you would need to reserve a second room. However, you could redistribute the Guests between the two rooms on your reservation. Since third, fourth and fifth Guests in a room result in a small additional fee, you would be wise to put two adults in both of the rooms and then an additional fee would only be added for one adult (if everyone in your party is an adult).

If you'd like to keep your housing budget where it is, may I suggest you get two connecting or adjoining rooms at a moderate or value resort instead? I recently stayed with friends in the newly renovated rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort and they were magnificent. The design is completed updated and we loved the comfortable new queen-size beds. I bet you could get two rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort for the same amount (or less) than one room with five adults at a deluxe resort. Six could also be nicely accommodated in a Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort or at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

Don't hesitate to post additional questions as you contemplate all the options for your upcoming vacation. I'd be happy to provide whatever advice you need to plan a truly magical trip for all six of you.

Sending best wishes and pixie dust,
    Jill
