    how does "stand-by" work

    Hi Lee,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. We on the panel love helping guests to plan magical vacations!

I believe that you are asking about the standby queues for attractions at Walt Disney World theme parks. The standby queue for an attraction is simply the traditional queue. In a standby queue, you get into the queue and wait in line for your turn to experience the attraction. Disney FastPass+ queues will feed guests into the attraction interspersed with the guests in the standby queue, so the standby queues typically have longer waits than the Disney FastPass+ queues. The standby queues have wait times posted at the front of the queue, so you know about how long you will wait in the standby queue for the attraction. I find these to be quite reliable.

I do suggest that you make some Disney FastPass+ selections before you leave home. You can make up to three Disney FastPass+ selections per day before your arrival, and these will allow you to experience some attractions with shorter wait times. Once you have used those three Disney FastPass+ selections, you will be able to make another selection, and then another once you have used the fourth one, and so on based on availability for the rest of your day at the theme park. Be sure that you have a My Disney Experience account set up and valid theme park admission linked in the account in order to make Disney FastPass+ selections from home.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Lee! Please do let us know if you have any further questions.
