Hello! We have a split stay coming up in February. We plan on ordering some groceries and having them delivered to our first resort. When we check out and have our bags transferred to the next resort is there a way to transfer the food as well?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ashley!

I see you’re counting down the weeks until your Walt Disney World Resort vacation – it’s almost here! Hurray! I hope you’re having lots of fun planning and dreaming about the adventures you’re about to have in The Most Magical Place on Earth.

My family always brings or orders groceries for our Disney vacations. It’s great to have breakfast items to enjoy in the room as we get ready, as well as snacks and other essentials. We also love split stays – it’s a great chance to enjoy double the pools, dining, theming, and recreation options while on vacation. I like the way you’re thinking, Ashley!

Bell Services will be happy to transfer your groceries between resorts. When you’re ready to check out of your first resort, stop by Bell Services with all the bags you’ll be transferring. If you’ll have cold items, you can even ask them to mark the items as needing refrigeration, and they will be stored in the cold rooms of both resorts when transferred. I usually pack a soft sided cooler bag for those items, which makes me feel a little safer about the grocery transfer. Bell Services will attach a tag to each bag you’re transferring, indicating your name and destination resort, and they will give you a claim check that you’ll use to claim your items when they’re ready. You can let them know if any of those bags contain fragile grocery items and they can note that. When your bags arrive at your next resort, Bell Services will notify you (or you’re welcome to check in with them), and you’ll have the option of picking your bags up or asking them to deliver them to your room; in my experience, you must be in your room to have bags delivered.

On a related note, when transferring bags between resorts, a tip is not expected, but is appreciated by the Bell Services Cast Members, and $1-2 per bag (or more for heavier or fragile items) is customary.

One more tip, Ashley: I always pack a backpack to keep with us on the day we switch resorts. If we’re going to the theme parks, we’ll pack our usual park essentials (sunscreen, water, popcorn bucket), and we always pack our swimsuits too, so that we can hang by the pool when waiting for our room to be ready. Think about what you might need during that day, as it can take some time for your bags to make it to your second resort.

Have so much fun with your trip countdown! Don’t forget to read the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest news, and please come back to see us if we can answer any more questions as you plan and dream.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
