Hi, we are going to be spending 6 n at WDW in April 2012 and we have the DDP because we love to eat. I have made res for several meals but left lunchs open. My question is... is this too much? Will the planned meals interupt our enjoyment of the parks?

Hello there, Rachel and welcome to the Moms Panel!  We really appreciate your question and are always eager to help plan magical Walt Disney World Resort vacations.

I absolutely always purchase the Disney Dining Plan when heading to the "Most Magical Place on Earth."  I find that it works perfectly for my family and offers great savings plus the opportunity to try dining new experiences.

If I am reading your question correctly, you have already booked 2 table service meals per day, and have decided to to leave lunches open.

I must say, I think you have made a great decision, as table service meals at Walt Disney World can be very time consuming, not to mention filling.  While there have definitely been occasions when my family have eaten 3 table service meals in one day, I will admit that we felt like we missed out on park time and it truly seemed like we were eating the entire day.  By the time dinner rolled around, we could barely take another bite!

I usually upgrade to the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan which entitles each member of the party 3 table service meals per day.  What we usually do is skip either breakfast or lunch each day and then use the extra point to reserve a Signature Dining experience, which costs 2 points.

Another tip, is to either book a late breakfast, which can serve as brunch then grab a hearty snack such as the Ham and Cheese Croissant at Boulangerie Pattisserie in Epcot's France Pavilion to hold me over in between lunch and dinner.

I honestly feel that skipping lunch is a great way to maximize your time in the Disney Parks.  Disney offers many great options for snacks as well as counter-service dining options which are great for grabbing something on the go without making a huge time commitment!

Here's wishing you the most magical Disney World vacation EVER!!!  Please visit us here at the Moms Panel again if we can be of further assistance!
