Spending 1 day at MK (Sunday 5/10) with 15, 4, and 2 yr old before leaving for a cruise (5/11). We arrive early afternoon Saturday staying at Contemporary. Suggestions on what to do/where to go Saturday besides the parks? Downtown Disney...etc?

    Hello John!
If I had an afternoon/evening to spend at the Walt Disney World Resort I would spend that time at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.  This lovely resort is just a short boat ride from Disney's Contemporary Resort.  At "The Fort" you will find yourself transported to the American Frontier where you will find many activities to keep your entire family entertained.  One of my favorites is visiting the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. At the ranch you can see Cinderella's ponies as well as the awesome horses of Main Street, U.S.A. Along with visiting the beautiful horses and ponies you can choose from pony rides for the young ones in your group or take the whole family on a wagon ride through the trees and trails of the resort.

This resort is also home to one of the most loved Disney shows of all time- The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review. Along with singing, dancing, and comedy skits your family will enjoy some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten! You can top your day off with Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. This FREE character experience is by far one of my favorite things to do with my family.

An afternoon and evening at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is in my opinion "a practically perfect" Disney experience!

    See ya real soon!

I have traveled to the Disney Parks in multiple stages of my life, including as a daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. While I can’t pick my funniest Disney memory – either my 70-year-old mother on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or my 4-year-old grandson on Dinosaur – I am thrilled to be able to help other Disney guests plan their adventures.
