    Melissa from BC Asked

Hi, I have a special needs son and am hoping to use the DSA. My question is, I have 4 other kids and I am wondering if they will be able to go on the ride along with me and my special needs son or if they would have to wait in line alone? Thank you!

Howdy, Melissa, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I’m thrilled to hEAR you’ll be visiting the Happiest Place on Earth soon! You are going to make so many special memories with your family. You couldn’t have picked a better place for your vacation – the Disneyland Resort is absolutely committed to providing a welcoming and accessible experience for all Guests, including those with special needs. It sounds like Disability Access Service (DAS) may be helpful for your son, since it’s designed for Guests whose disability prevents them from waiting in a conventional queue environment. I’m happy to report that if DAS is provided for your son, your family can all stay together when using return times on attractions.

Here’s how the DAS process works: As soon as you arrive at Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, head to a Guest Relations Main Entrance location. In Disneyland Park, you’ll find one at City Hall, and in Disney California Adventure Park, it’s at the Chamber of Commerce. Next, you’ll discuss your son’s special needs with a Cast Member to determine the best plan of action. If DAS is provided, the Cast Member will walk you and your son through the registration process. Once your family decides on your first attraction, you’ll be issued a return time by the Cast Member who set up your registration. Each member of your party will need to present their valid theme-park admission to be included in the return time. The return time will be electronically associated to each party member’s ticket. There are regional Guest Relations kiosks located throughout both parks for future return times to be issued as well. Also, keep in mind that you can only have one active return time at a time, though you can use return times in conjunction with Disney’s FASTPASS Service

Before your adventures begin, I recommend downloading the Disneyland app. It’s a great tool for checking wait times, finding your favorite Characters, and even mobile ordering food and drinks – this feature has saved my family from toddler meltdowns many times in the past!

Wishing you a magical, comfortable, stress-free visit to the Disneyland Resort!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for about 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 7, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
