Hi Heather ~
As a Mom to a son with Cerebral Palsy, I love to see that you are planning ahead for your Father. It will make things so much smoother once you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort.
We visited Disney's Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago and rode
Avatar Flight of Passage. It is beyond AMAZING! I will admit, I had some concerns regarding my son being able to experience it and how he would react. He absolutely LOVED it and I spent more time watching the sheer joy on his face and his screams in delight than I did the actual screen. I would not have missed that for the world.
Your Father will be able to remain in his ECV for almost all of the queue. Once you get near the point of entering the pre-show areas, your Father will have the option to transfer to a manual wheelchair or walk the rest of the way. I think we spent about 10 minutes in the pre-show areas. If he would like to transfer to a manual wheelchair, they will provide one for your Father. That wheelchair can be taken through the pre-show areas and to the ride vehicle where he will then need to transfer. They have special wheelchairs that will make it pretty easy for
Guests with limited mobility to transfer. After his flight, they will bring the wheelchair back to your Father and take him back to his ECV.
Disney's
Fastpass+ service is a great way to save time waiting in line. If you don't get one for Avatar Flight of Passage, go to Animal Kingdom early and head straight there. It is totally worth the wait!
Please feel free to visit us with all of your planning questions. We are hEAR to help!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
