We soon leave for our first cruise to the Western Caribbean. We only booked port adventures in Cozumel. At the other ports is it easy to just get off the ship and walk around, hang out at a beach, without having something pre-planned? Thank you.

    Ahoy Jennifer!
At this time next week, you will be soaking up the Caribbean sun on your first magical voyage!  I'm sure you are so ready to be in full vacation mode as the crew of Disney Cruise Line pampers and spoils you on your week-long adventure!
The Western Itinerary has some fantastic ports of call, and I would love to give you a few tips on what you can expect when the ship docks.  Grand Cayman is one of my favorite stops in the Western Caribbean, but cruise ships are unable to dock there and must use a tender system to get Guests over to the island.  Once you take the tender, you will find shopping and restaurants within walking distance of the pier, but the beaches are a short taxi ride away.  Taxis will be waiting to whisk you to either Rum Point of the Seven Mile Beach so if you do decide to go out on your own, make sure to leave plenty of time to return to the ship.
In Costa Maya, you will also find plenty of shopping and restaurants within a short walk of the pier.  You will find a swimming pool in the middle of the shopping area that many Guests like to visit for a refreshing dip.  The closest beach to the port is Majahual, which is about three miles away.  Taxis will be waiting if you want to venture beyond the shopping area.
On Disney's exclusive island, Castaway Cay, you will be able to splash in the magnificent waters, build in the soft, white sand, and relax under your beach umbrella for the entire day, and it is all only a 10 minute walk from the ship!
Something else to think about is that you may want to stay on the ship to enjoy it as your destination for the day!  With many Guests ashore, the pools are less crowded, and the cruise staff always has plenty planned even though the ship is in port.
I hope my answer helps with your planning, Jennifer!  Best wishes for the most magical sailing next week!
    Bon Voyage!
