50s Prime Time Cafe

My son's favorite food is the meatloaf from 50's Prime Time Café. We eat at this location every visit. Although we love it there, we'd truly love to try other options. Is the meatloaf at The Plaza comparable to that at 50's Prime Time

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, David!

My daughter has a “Disney go-to meal” as well, so I totally hear you. For her, it’s the Prime Rib at Olivia’s Café that calls to her, and we love that place so much that we visit almost every trip. Having said that, I also love trying new places (and, with all the mouthwatering food articles on the Disney Parks Blog, my list is never-ending), so the struggle is real! I hope I can help make the decision a little easier today.

Here’s the difference: the Home-Style Meatloaf at The Plaza Restaurant comes with a brown gravy, and Cousin Megan’s Traditional Meatloaf at 50’s Prime Time Café comes with a ketchup glaze. If your son is really attached to the ketchup glaze part (I LOVE a tomato topping on my meatloaf), you could request no gravy and apply a little ketchup on top. Both entrees come with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

I would recommend looking at both menus and deciding what items sound delicious for the rest of the family. I have heard amazing things about the Plaza Loaded Fries appetizer and the Baked Honey-Barbecued Brisket Macaroni & Cheese at The Plaza Restaurant, and you all probably have your favorites from 50’s Prime Time Café. One thing is for sure: neither restaurant will let you down in the milkshake department: 50’s Prime Time Café has that iconic Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshake, and the Plaza Restaurant has bottomless shakes and some amazing seasonal featured milkshake flavors, including shakes with donuts, cookies, and other sweet concoctions on the rim. Drool!

David, I hope this helps and that you’re able to find the perfect meal during your visit to Walt Disney World! Here on the panel, we know exactly what it’s like to be torn between the iconic Disney foods we love (and that “taste like magic”) and trying new things, so please come back and see us if you have any more questions as you plan and dream.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
