my son's birthday is the week after we get home , will i will able to ask them to acknowledge it when we come down he will be 17.

Absolutely you may celebrate your son's birthday a few days early.

Walt Disney World is the place for celebrations. You are welcome to choose whatever occasion and time you want. Stop by Guest Services and pick up a Happy Birthday button for your son to wear.

Consider 'Ohana for a birthday dinner. Endless skewers of grilled meat, plates of veggies and noodles, and bowls of welcome bread and salad should even fill up a teenage boy. The island party atmosphere is perfect for a birthday. Since you are never too old for a character meal breakfast at Chef Mickey's is another choice for a birthday meal. A bountiful breakfast buffet and the classic fab five Disney characters make this spot a fun choice.

You may order a small cake at the podium of most table service restaurants. Choose either chocolate or vanilla and the sweet treat will arrive at the end of your meal. If you wish for a more elaborate cake, call the cake hotline at (407) 827-2253 to order a custom creation to be delivered to most resort rooms or restaurants.

    Happy birthday to your son!
