Hello. My sons bday is on new years eve. My family & I have been planning to go to Disneyland for his special day. Can you re-enter the park with the premium annual pass? & if so, will the picnic area be open for the guests ??

    Hi, Rosemary!

I’m glad you’ll be celebrating your son's birthday and ringing in the New Year at The Happiest Place on Earth! The Disneyland Resort theme parks will stay open later than usual and offer extra entertainment, like live performances, parades and special fireworks displays.

On New Year’s Eve, it’s best to arrive first thing in the morning and pick one park to stay in all day since both parks will likely reach capacity. Once this happens, no guests will be allowed to enter or re-enter, regardless of ticket or pass type, for safety reasons. The picnic area should be open, but I wouldn't recommend leaving the park for any reason if you can avoid doing so. Bring any items you may want later in the evening, such as sweaters or jackets, and reserve a locker right away if you will want one.

The area near the “it's a small world” attraction is one of a few of locations that typically feature live bands and entertainment throughout the night. The most popular location to welcome the New Year is in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, a prime spot to view the “Ring in the New Year” fireworks spectacular, and near the Rivers of America is another great place to be in Disneyland Park when the clock strikes midnight. If you’re in Disney California Adventure Park, a prime location is the World of Color viewing area overlooking Paradise Bay. Cast Members sometimes pass out free noisemakers and hats, and you can also purchase New Year's-themed ear hats to help commemorate the occasion.

I hope this helps, Rosemary, and that you have a Happy New Year at the Disneyland Resort with your family. Happy birthday to your son!

    Wishing you magic,
