My son (5) and I will be traveling to the Magic Kindgom 8/27-8-31. We are on a limited budget can you tell me what affordable places to eat in the Magic Kingdom?

    Hello Judith!

I am always looking for ways to save money while we are visiting Walt Disney World.  Did you know you can bring your own food and drinks into the parks?  You can and we do!  Disney allows a soft sided cooling into the parks with no wheels that does not exceed the dimensions 24"x15"x18".  The only restrictions are you aren't allowed to bring in outside alcohol and no glass bottles.  My family and I usually pack more drinks than snacks because we love eating  at Walt Disney World.  Our cooler is full of soda and juice boxes.  I also pack some granola bars, goldfish crackers and a few other snacky foods to munch on while we wait in lines.  We don't pack bottled water in our cooler because you can get a large glass of ice water free at any Quick Service dining location.

When dining inside of Magic Kingdom, Quick Service locations are the most economical.  Also, keep in mind you don't have to order the meal.  If there is a meal for a cheeseburger and fries on the menu, you can order that same burger a la carte and save a few dollars without the french fries.  My favorite place to eat at Magic Kingdom is Colombia Harbour House.  The food there is really good and filling.  My husband and I usually go for the shrimp platter and fries, which is big enough to share.  My daughter loves their macaroni and cheese.  For the portion sizes, this is a really economical meal.  We also like to grab corn dog nuggets at Casey's Corner which are always more than my daughter can eat, so I get to snack on them too.  With the addition of the snacks I bring into the park, buying lunch or dinner really doesn't break my budget too much.
