    Kerry from NY Asked

If my son starts the Disney vacation and is two years old but turns three during the vacation do I need to buy a ticket for him?

Hello Kerry, and thank you for bringing your question to me here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I am so excited to hear that you will be bringing your young padawan to the Walt Disney World Resort soon. That is such a great age to start your youngling off learning the ways of magical Disney vacations.

While your youngling is under the age of 3 he will be Mickey’s Special Guest and not required to have a valid theme park admission ticket. Once he turns 3 you will need to purchase a ticket for him, if he will be entering a Disney Theme Park for the remainder of your trip. You can either purchase his admission in advance and link it to a My Disney Experience account and activate his ticket on his birthday. Or you can purchase a ticket for him when you arrive.

Your little prince will not need FastPass+ reservations while he is Mickey’s Special Guest, but he will need them once he is 3 for any rides or attractions that he meets the height requirements to enjoy. Here’s a helpful tip, if you are already inside your 30 days or 60 days FastPass+ window and there is no availability for him, I would suggest that you explain the situation to a Cast Member that your youngling has just turned 3 and did not require a ticket at the time you made your FastPass+ selections. Don’t forget to stop by Guest Relations and pick up a birthday button to celebrate the occasion.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea
