My son is just 40 in with sneakers on (and his curls on his head)! When measuring for the rides is it 40 in. with shoes on or is the sign a little higher because they know kids will have shoes on? Do you think the sign needs to touch his hair or head?

Each ride has it's own measurement stick at the ride queue entrance and later on, just prior to the boarding area. Children are measured with their shoes on. I would not, however, count on having your son's hair add to his height. The cast members at each ride do have discretion to measure in they way that they feel is most appropriate for the safety and protection of all guests. Often this means flattening a child's hair.

We had one trip where my shortest daughter was millimeters away from the 48" requirement for several of the rides. She reaaaalllly wanted to go on with her sisters. During this trip, we had several instances when cast members asked her to remove a baseball cap to get a more accurate measurement. And once she was even asked to remove a hairclip that puffed up her hair a bit. Even though she was so almost tall enough, she didn't make the cut and had to wait for the next trip.

I know it can be frustrating or disappointing to have to wait, but the height requirements really are for the safety of all guests.
