Mom and daughter on Dumbo

My son is measuring exactly at 38”. Is there a way of getting measured when you come into the park instead of at each ride? I don’t want to book fast passes for a ride that he won’t be able ride because someone measured different than the next person.

Hello, Michelle! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks for your question!

My daughter has always been tall for her age and quite the thrill seeker. So I have prepared for many trips to the parks by measuring her height in advance. Once she would reach certain milestones at home, I would create a loose plan of attractions to ride while keeping in mind that it is up to each individual Cast Member at every attraction if she would be allowed on. Due to safety concerns, there is not one place to be measured – your son will be measured at each attraction with a height requirement. Furthermore, some attractions will measure Guests at two checkpoints within the queue. Your son will have to meet the height requirement at both checks in order to ride.

To prepare your son to be measured, have him practice standing up straight with his shoes on and his heels against a wall. Also, let him know that it’s a good thing if his head “bumps” the measuring guide. Sometimes kids will try to crouch under the guide which results in an inaccurate measurement. If you have measured accurately at home, then feel free to make FastPass+ reservations for attractions in which he meets the height requirement. You can easily modify your selections on the My Disney Experience app once you are in the parks if he ends up not quite tall enough for some attractions. You can also take advantage of Rider Switch so you and another adult can take turns riding the attraction and waiting with your son outside the attraction.

I hope this information was useful. Have a magical time at the Walt Disney World Resort!
