Hi Margaret!  I can understand the wish and need for some privacy with your family traveling to Walt Disney World. There are some options that might be helpful in choosing the best place for you.

The Fort Wilderness cabins are in the moderate category and they are perfect for generation travel. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and bunk beds. There is a queen sofa bed in the living area giving you the separation you need for some privacy. Both have their own tv's as well and there is actually two exterior doors with one leading into the living room and one into the bedroom if one of you chooses to be out later. The cabins also include one large bathroom and fully equipped kitchen and dining table and outside a picnic table and grill. Fort Wilderness is a wonderful and peaceful place and a hidden secret of the many resorts on property.  If you choose this location consider renting a golf cart during your stay. This adds to the cost but it is not only fun but very convenient.

Another consideration is in the Value category but they are the best for families who are looking for some extra privacy. The Art of Animation suites are wonderful as they have a separate bedroom with a queen bed and sofa bed and chair in the living area. The nice thing about these suites is that they provide you with two full bathrooms. This can be especially great if you are having to make an early morning reservation.

Your final option is to get two connecting rooms in one of the moderate resorts with my favorite being Port Orleans. This gives you privacy but connection to the entire family at the same time. The benefits of staying in a Disney resort are great and include early reservation for FastPasses as well as benefiting from the extra magic hours in all of the parks.

Whatever your decision might be I am sure you will have an incredibly fantastic vacation with your son and grandson. Let us know if we can help you with any of the planning ahead.
