Mom and child in resort room

My son has food allergies: he’s allergic to dairy as one of his allergies. We will need to bring his special milk that must be kept cold. He drinks approximately 4 liters a week: I’m unsure if that will fit in our mini fridge? If not can the resort store?

    Hi Natasha,

Thanks for posting your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Growing boys certainly need their milk so I'm happy to help you figure out a way to keep your son's milk supply chilled during your upcoming trip at Walt Disney World Resort.

When I traveled in May with a dozen seniors from the school where I teach, I had six gallons of milk to store for the group's breakfasts. At Disney's Pop Century Resort, I was able to store two full gallons of milk in the mini-refrigerator in my room by removing the shelves. I kept the other four gallons cold by storing them in 22-quart styrofoam coolers that I ordered from Garden Grocer (a local delivery service) a few weeks before my trip. Each cooler holds two full gallons of milk. I just placed the milk in the coolers and then covered them with ice from the ice machine in the hallway. It worked really well. I drained the water from the coolers and replaced it with fresh ice each night and, as a result, my students had cold milk for their cereal every morning for five days. Perhaps this system would work well for your family too.

By the way, the chefs at Walt Disney World Resort do an unparalleled job accommodating the dietary restrictions of their Guests. Don't hesitate to mention your son's allergies to the servers at the restaurants in the theme parks and hotels. They will go out of their way to prepare dairy-free food that will delight your son.

Wishing you many magical memories on your upcoming trip,
    Jill
