Hi! My son is 5 and this is his first time to Disney! We have 3 days to explore and I was wondering which parks/ events and charachter happenings to focus on given his age and the amount of time we have! I know some require booking in advance. Thanks!

    Hi Laura!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You are about to have a fantastic vacation with your son! Walt Disney World Resort is terrific for all ages, but I think it’s MADE for the littles. My twin boys are also five, so I’m going to give you what THEY suggest for three days of fun!

First stop - Magic Kingdom Park. You can blast to infinity and beyond and then fly over London with a quick stop under the sea! Your son should be tall enough for our current favorite ride, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (take advantage of FastPass+ for this one), and he will also love The Barnstormer. My boys love both of these rides because they are “roller-coasters” and they feel so big!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is happening while you are visiting. I think the party is an excellent way for you and your son to hit all of the iconic attractions at Magic Kingdom Park with little to no wait. Bonus - your son can trick-or-treat dressed up as his favorite character! The frightful fest is quite popular, so BOOk those tickets soon!

My boys are HUGE Star Wars and Toy Story fans, so you have to plan a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania are always must-dos in our family, and the Planet of Batuu is out of this world! Bonus tip - the waits for Character Greetings always seem to be a bit less here. A few weeks ago, we spent 15 minutes hanging out with Olaf, and then saw BB-8, Vampirina, Chewy, and Goofy in rapid succession!

Finally, finish with a day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Your son will love spotting his favorite animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris, and The Festival of the Lion King is spectacular! Donald’s Dino-Bash! is a super fun dance party, and when he needs a bit of downtime, The Boneyard is a great place to relax and play.

Laura, we wish you a trip full of magical memories!
