My son and a few of his friends would like to visit Walt Disney World this summer. They will be 18 years old and will have a valid credit card. Will they be able to check into a Disney resort or will they need to be 21.

    Hi Pamela!

Nice to meet you. You and I have sons the same age. Isn't it lovely to see them enjoying Disney magic even as they stand on the threshold of adulthood? I am absolutely convinced that you never outgrow Walt Disney World Resort vacations.

As a teacher who travels to Walt Disney World Resort with graduating seniors each spring, I know for certain that there need only be one 18-year-old as the lead name on a Disney resort reservation. Your son and his friends needn't be 21 in order to check in. If your son is listed first on the reservation, he will need a valid, government-issued ID to check in. It is handy to put a credit card on the account, although it is not required. (When I travel with my students on the school trip, the entire balance for the room is paid off in advance of our arrival and no credit card is linked to the account.)

Be sure to check out the Special Offers on Disney resort hotels before your son books his reservation. Hopefully, he and his friends will find a deal that saves them some money. With all the marvelous food at Walt Disney World Resort, it's nice to have some extra cash for teenage boys to spend on tasty treats.

Wishing him and his friends a safe, fun, and memorable journey,
    Jill
